Our corporate culture is most apparent in the proactive role we play regarding industry health and safety issues. Our progressive product stewardship program (PSP) has become a model for the industry.
In conjunction with the HTIW Coalition, which is an organization comprised of the principal producers of high-temperature insulation wool, Unifrax has developed a comprehensive PSP to assist customers in the evaluation, control, and reduction of workplace fiber exposures. The PSP has been endorsed by the Environmental Protection Agency as a model for the industry. Its key elements include communications, workplace exposure monitoring, evaluation of workplace controls, exposure assessments, health effects research, product research, and special studies.
For more information about this program, please call the product stewardship information hotline at 1.800.322.2293.
Since 1987, the University of Cincinnati (UC) has been conducting a study to identify any potential health effects associated with exposure to refractory ceramic fiber (RCF). The medical-monitoring portion of the study was concluded in 2016. You can find a summary of the study’s findings here.
