Fiberfrax® Wicking Textiles are a high-temperature twisted roving made from refractory ceramic fibres and organic carrier fibres with a temperature grade of 1260 °C. They possess the same thermal and chemical properties common to all Fiberfrax forms. They are typically used in applications that do not demand high tensile strength or compression resistance.
These products are dense, resilient, ceramic fibre materials, widely used for a broad variety of high-temperature gasketing, packing and sealing applications.
Fiberfrax textiles have excellent resistance to thermal shock, corrosion and breakdown due to mechanical vibration and stress. They also demonstrate excellent chemical stability, resisting attack from most corrosive agents. Exceptions are hydrofluoric and phosphoric acids and concentrated alkalis. Fiberfrax textiles also resist oxidation and reduction.
